From the comments from my readers, it seems many people are having problems finding drivers for their Compaq Presario Laptops. Considering this problem, I’ve finally decided to write up a post on drivers for Compaq Presario laptops. Finding the drivers for Compaq laptops is certainly a problem for most of the customers. I myself had faced this problem once but a after a little digging up, I found a way to find the drivers. And here I am – sharing that technique with you.

How to find the driver for your Compaq Presario laptop drivers?

Just follow the following steps to download the drivers for your Compaq Presario laptop:

Go to www.hp.com.
In the countries list, click the link to your country. (If your country is not in the list, click the link to find United States –English).
In the new page, click the link “Software and Driver Downloads”.
Enter your MODEL NUMBER (product number) in the box for product name/number. E.g. Compaq CQ45 112au. Click the button with “» »” sign or press ENTER.
In the new page with title “Select your operating System”, click the link to your operating system from the list. (If your operating system is not listed, HP does not currently have software or driver downloads available for your product for that operating system, or they are not available in the language you have chosen. To look for a driver in another language, change the software/driver language by clicking the “Change your software/driver language:” link on this page to see what drivers are available for your operating system.)
The new page will contain all the drivers for your laptop and the operating system you chose. Click each link and you can download the drivers one by one.

Still can’t find the drivers for your Compaq Presario laptop

If you are still unable to find the drivers for your laptop after following the above steps, you can contact hp customer service or post your model number in the comments box below. I may be able to help you unless your laptop is a “HP doesn’t have support for this product”.

hi for instal the driver in compaq c700,there is two driver one of them is SP36492 and another is SP36492.
download from net then install and rebot your system….
now right click on the my computer and click manage then device manager then one of them is install ( only sound driver) them pls update ths driver 4m net………..

select software & driver downloads

enter your product number and you get all drivers supporting your laptop.

see sometimes it happens that mic doest work due to improper contact.

I have a weired solution.

It may or may not work.

Insert a non conductive material like a matchstick into your mic headset socket.

make it in and out.

now insert ur mic pin of headset n check.

u can check it by folling procedure

1)start
2) all programs
3) Accessories
4) entertainment
5) sound recorder

Record your talk

it may or may not work.

It still issue per-sues, talk to online chat support

see dude

Two points to discuss.

First use one os at a time. either XP or Win 7,
even if u use install both os in separate drives.

Second if ur laptop is old n is xp compatible, installing win 7 may not wok as drivers are not compatible.
or if ur laptop is new n supports win 7, then i recommend use only win 7, as ur pc, processesor is designed for that. don’t install other os.

Some times even may be due to virus, trojans it may delete some window files.

better you scan your pc using online scanner weekly once which are freely available.

use bitdefender online scan or Nod 32 online scan.

first install the driver and then go to the My computer icon in the desktop…right click on it and then go to the manage option in the submenu..after entering inside in the manage go to the device manager ….after that choose the ? mark device and go to the update wizard and by going next…..choose the required driver from the previously stored drive (i.e. C:)…i think this will help u..if any process u know let me know.thanks

Hello,

I was facing same issue some one year back. But this has got a solution.

Do this:

1. Uninstall all/any UAA & Audio Drivers.
2. Download Latest UAA Drivers & Audio Drivers (if u dont hv the latest drivers with you)
3. Always Install UAA Drivers & retsrt before installing Audio Drivers.
4. Thats it.

there is a major sound driver problem with the V3000 series. even after downloading the drivers from hp.com and installing them the sound problem does not go. it says “no media device found”. cud u plz tell how this problem cud be resolved.

My laptop is Presario V2000. After reinstalling Windows XP, I have a problem with thumbb drives. When connected to USB port, it is detected and and shown in the task bar. But when my computer is explored, the removable disk is not listed. Hence I cant use USB disks. Hope you will give necessary assistance. Thank you,

hi,

I have a Compaq Presario V3000 series laptop, recently i reinstalled Win XP Proffesional, after installation each and every driver loaded perfectly except for the audio. When i tried to install the audio driver it gave me an error “Media Device not found”. Now i’m stuck with no audio. Searched the internet high and low but no solution yet.

If anyone has a solution then please point me in the right direction.

Sir,
I have followed your suggestion. But I could not find the sound driver. In the site, there are “Driver-Storage”, Software-Internet”, Software-Solutions for Lightscribe” but no sound. My problem is: I am not able to install sound driver after I formatted my laptop. The Driver given to me from the vendor could not be installed. hi dear

I installed win xp with SP3 slipstrimed and found that device manager don’t show audio device controller, firstly i think that it is due to MS UAA, but i installed it and still problem persist and shows PCi device rather then Audio controller. when i forcefully tried to istall audio driver, it shows no media device found. so i want to know where is my sound controller and what is PCI device. this is the problem in laptop & desktop also.

my model presario m2000 m2254au series.
i formatted my notebook and installed the drivers provided by hp in c drive. Everything seems to be fine but whn i plug in my external hard disk, i get a message stating “hi usb device plugged in non hi speed device”…and it takes around 15 minutes to transfer 700 MB data. I tried looking for the drivers but in vain…Pls help

Hi.I need your help urgently, please.
I bought my Laptop Presario Presario 3614 AU almost 3 years ago and few weeks ago the sound in my Compaq disappears suddenly from time to time.
I managed to bring it back few times by restarting the laptop but it doesn’t always work. I’ve also reinstalled the drivers, so it worked again, but no more now after I’ve turned it off.
When I tried to open volume control, it said that there is no device installed.
I also tried to install more recent drivers but failed because cannot detect device. True in Systeme Information, no device for sound. I’ve installed Microsoft UUA Bus Driver for HD Audio and restarted, but still impossible to install driver because “could not find media device for this driver”.
I used XP SP3,
AMD Turion x2
1Gb Ram
I need it for my job. Please help

Sell it on the ebay mate. The HP and Compaq are infamous about their s**t customer service.If you changed your original operation system, there is a good chance that that particular driver you need doesn`t exist. Look: I`ve downgraded my Presario V6642 to XP from Vista. NO CD driver exist for this laptop to XP. So I patched it…it sometimes works, sometimed doesn`t.

you have Vista? it explains everything. check your RAM usage, and you will understand. I have 2Giga RAM, and when my laptop was running on Vista, it took off 1Giga. Now Im running on XP, and it takes only 300Mb. This is one of the main reasons why laptops are slow with Vista.

Thank you for the big nothing. This is what you were digging? The problem with the compaq laptops is that they were selling them with shitty windows vista, and if you want to downgrade your laptop to XP, you won`t find drivers to it. The HP just sold out its customers to the Microsoft, the same way you are boasting about how you can help, but in fact you give links which could be found with any browser.

I own compaq presario F700 laptop……
But i face lots of problem with ma lappy. During installation of OS Vista to it, it completes all steps n hangs up during last step of installation i.e., finalisation of windows…….. it hangs completely n cursor doesn’t move at all. And not only that it wont allow me to install any other windows OS. the Same problem persists. Can any one get me the solution…

hey guys…audio problems in compaq c772tu laptops is solved…and the great thing is driver is already there in ur laptop u just have to find it…first go to update driver,select no net connection,select ‘choose myself’,go to manufacture list, and select connexant audio and click on it,,,,avoid all the errors just click ‘continue’….and its done…

guys i see comments such as installing xp problems driver problem well if we buy a hp laptop the preinstalled os is vista 32 bit u must think one thing the os comes with new version have always new features even my suggestion is to move to that os just only a simple comment use windows7

I tried to install audio driver for my lapp HP COMPAQ PRESARIO C700. I tried with all compatible drivers too. It gives an error “NO MEDIA DEVICE FOUND FOR THIS DRIVER”. I used havedisk method also to install. Kindly, help out. Thanks in advance.

i formatted my system and is still slow compaq presario cq40 notebook, the funny part of it is that my laptop is empty the only file i have is the game am playing which is f1 2010 game on my pc, anytime i play the game my system becomes slow what do i do pls help..
